Collective Care considers community as a source of resilience, protection, and strength. A loon in flight emerges from a recycled quilt assembled from disparate patterns, colors, and histories. Each piece retains its individuality while becoming part of something larger, reflecting the ways communities are formed through difference, connection, and shared responsibility.
The act of stitching becomes both a physical process and a metaphor for repair, connection, and persistence. Materials that once existed separately are brought together and transformed into a single figure in motion.
The loon becomes a symbol of what becomes possible when we carry one another. Collective Care asks us to consider care as an active practice rather than an individual act: something woven through relationships, sustained through solidarity, and strengthened by our willingness to hold space for one another.
